Fink's Diamond Dash!!

Daevids was a stop in this years Fink's Diamond Dash! Contestants signed up at Town Point Park in Downtown Norfolk, Va. They were given a txt message that gave them clues to stops on an extream scavenger hunt through out Downtown Norfolk. When the contestants reached a given stop they were to perform some given task depending on where they were. Upon completion, they were given a passcode to txt which would lead them to the next location. We made contestants make a boutonniere.
The couple who won recieved a $15,000.00 a Ritani diamond ring.

The setting was the beautiful Lion's Crest at The Biltmore Estates. Thank you Dana Duncan, for the amazing photos. Thank you to Creative Coverings, Jeremy and Ben of Blue Steel, Wildflower Linens, Norma from Distinctive, Rodney Charles, Sweetwater, Nichole and her staff from the Biltmore, Paper Whytes, and the Hulseys for giving us the chance to work at the Biltmore.

Sheer green organza chair sashes tied off-center. Different yet still elegant.

Orange Vanda Orchids seated in lime green hydrangea were part of the pew markers.

Silvery tin lanterns sitting atop glass encased blossoms lined the aisle.

Teal paper bags accented with fall foliage. Inside were rose petals for guest to toss as the newlyweds walked down the aisle.

No rice.... but petals to throw to celebrate Laurie & Jason's walk up the aisle.

Guest left for cocktails as the room the ceremony was in was transformed into the reception.

Blue uplighting that changes as the reception progresses provided by Blue Steele.

Above the head table hung two glimmering beaded chandeliers.

We transformed our beaded chandeliers using green dendrobium and orange vanda orchids.

Every aspect matched perfectly from the gold rimmed goblets to the orange covered seat cushions, even all gold flatware.

Every little detail matters. Gold votives and glittering butterflies accented the place settings at the head table.

The brides bouquet was simple and elegant with white callas seated in lime green hydrangea, wrapped in white and accented with a brooch.

In the center of each table stood a towering arrangement of natural tree branches growing up and out of our large glass 28" cylinders.

A beautiful altar created by suspending sheer fabric from from to ceiling. Silkscreens of trees and clear acrylic pedestals and uplighting provided by Blue Steele set the stage. Graceful arching calla lilies, orange Vanda orchids, Bells of Ireland, green Fuji mums and burnt orange Spicy roses grew up and out of tall tree branches. After the ceremony, the altar was converted into the perfect backdrop for the cake table as you can see in this photo.

The head table consisted of our 4x4x48 solid glass tray filled to the brim with blossoms and grass.

Toppers filled with light pink lilies, hot pink roses, pink glads, light pink delphinium, bells of Ireland.

Details are everything. By simply adding a single starfish to the base of every cylinder we were able to take the design to the next level.

Tiny lime slice accents add curiosity and interest. Using fruits in unexpected places gives guest and unexpected surprise

Close up photos of the details that we think no one else will really see...but of course no one than Scott and Adina--- Hayne Photography! We Love them!

A collection of containers mixed with fresh fruit and flowers, some with tops, some without tops. All accented with pomanders of yellow and green mums, our stem votive candle sets and star votives completed the centerpiece.

I do not have a favorite flower ...however, I have a few that I am more likely to be inspired by. One of these, which is on the side of the Big Yellow Block, and in this centerpiece. (just in yellow though) Combined with a very light yellow rose, yellow and white lily's and a mix of greens.

Yellow and lime green, fresh fruit, our 28" palace vases, crystals, just in the center of the table accented with different collections of other vases with mixed sliced fruit, as well as fresh flowers and pomander balls of kermit mums.

Scott (Hayne Photography) is the only one who can find a way to slide in the room without you knowing, and grab a picture. This was during our Epic flip of the room in 28 minutes! My staff Rocked this...even with our 55" vases fully designed from the ceremony. Then we moved them from one end of the Westin ballroom to the other side.

An arch using our 55" tall cylinders with hanging amaranthus, white lilys, glads, 80 stems of white orchids, our haning battery votives, and stands of crystals. This later WAS moved to place over the cake table.

Pike Media Resources did the lighting for this event. We like gobo that was choosen for the ceremony.

After all is set and done, isn't this the way your want your guest to feel. It was my favorite picture and has nothing to do with flowers or decor. Scott/Adina- Hayne Photography always manage to find the one moment that no one else will see.

Yellow lily's, green kermit mums, green eustoma, hypericum, green and white hydrangea, yellow freesia and greens to finish. Lemons and limes where Angies inspiration. Antonia Christianson had every detail covered...I mean every detail from the moment we met with her and her client.

No detail was left unattended when we met with Angie and Antonia the statement was, "The Ceremony has to be just as WOW and have the same Aw effect as the reception!" So we used our 55" glass vases with Birch branches growing from 12' to 14' on the back row of chairs. Off of the branches we hung pomanders of white roses, white alstromeria, white carnations, battery votives, and crystals. To finish each vase had orchids growing out of the top of the vase.

Brooke and Chris had the right idea when they decided to have wintery themed wedding. It was a welcome relief on such a hot June day. The rotunda of the Half moon Cruise Terminal in Norfolk was chosen as the reception venue. This area is perfect due to an entire wall of glass that surrounds half the room giving in unobstructed view of Port Norfolk and the setting sun. Tables around the room were draped in our white brushed satin linens and set with our silver leafed plate chargers. Winter Wonderland styled center pieces stood in the center of each table. Atop our glass palace vases, silvery branches grew up out of a tuft of white hydrangea. Sparkling Swarovski crystals dangled from the silver branch tips, shimmering in the evening sun. Blue up lighting backlit the venue. Crisp, clean, elegance.

Check us out in the Spring 2010 edition of Bride & Bloom. Pages 84 and 104. Antonia Christianson of Antonia Christianson Events was a featured coordinator in the Spring 2010 edition. Antonia was set up with the challenge of designing a wedding around fashionable turquoise. Shades of turquoise and emerald green were used to design a “Secret Garden” look and feel. The spread was shot by Eleise Theuer Photography on a blustery winter day. The Hermitage Museum & Gardens in Norfolk, Virginia were the perfect venue with their many gardens and traditional architecture. Floral designs were provided by us at Daevids using shades of greens and white. An enchanting turquoise cake detailed with white lattice and white gum paste flowers was crafted by Patti Cakes, Inc. Essentials were provided by Maya Couture, RSVP Stationery.

For Natalie and Antoine a classy affair was in order at the founders in. White brushed satin linens with black sheer overlays and silver leafed chargers set the stage. The outside of the room was anchored with 20 of our 28” cylinders topped with graceful arching calla lilies. Down inside of each cylinder were two callas lit from below using our light boxes. For the shorter tables in the center of the room we used small glass cylinders filled with small white callas seated in white hydrangea.

Spring was at the Portsmouth Renisance May 1st for the wedding of Jamee and Paul. Satin Tiffiny blue linens covered every table. Grand spring-time arrangements of pink glads, purple vanda orchids, green hydrangea, and pink tulips stood tall on every other table while smaller arrangements of pink tulips, pink peonies, purple vandas, and blue muscari were sprouting up out of wheat grass.

Karen and Bryce decided modern was the way to go. Her centerpieces were elegant and simple. On tall petal filled cubes sat toppers of Mono Lisa and Hot Lady roses with pink alstro accents. The table linens featured a beautiful black and white print. Votives with Frenched Hot lady roses accented each table. Pure black under linens and chair covers completed the look. Thanks to Wayne and the staff the Marriot Downtown Norfolk this was an amazing wedding.

Drama and enchantment was in air throughout Chrystal and Chris’ wedding. From the ceremony to the reception, super saturated hues of blue, purple, hot pink, and lime green set against a black backdrop pushed the color palette to the extreme. The ceremony and reception were both held at theWestin Virginia Beach TownCenter.

For the ceremony, the bride Chrystal carried a whimsical nosegay bouquet of Blue Magic Vanda orchids, green Fuji mums, deep purple stock, hot pink Nerine, maroon Callas, Monkeytail and Galax leaves were wrapped in a braid of sheer pink, green, and purple. Chrystal’s bridal bouquet was unforgettable and unique. The bridesmaids and matron carried similar styled bouquets containing many of the flowers that were in the bride’s. A bright green daisy charm dangled from each bouquet. Other members of the bridal party wore boutonnieres and corsages of Vanda orchids, Nerine with accents of Monkeytail. The couple was wed under our Corinthian styled column gazebo which was adorned with hot pink lilies, orchids, Nerine and maroon Callas. After the ceremony, wedding guest enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while the room was magically flipped.

The drama of the ceremony carried over into the reception that followed. Bold black brushed satin table lines with hot pink napkins set the stage. Sprays of exotic purple Vanda orchids perched high atop water filled glass cylinders holding a submerged Vanda. Hot pink tinged dendrobium orchids seated on electric lime green Fuji Mums low on in glass votives and higher inside cracked glass goblets. Glistening raindrop crystals and candle filled votives finished the tables. Cool white LED pin spots lit the centerpieces from above. The area reserved for the ceremony was converted into a lounging area with white sofas and ottomans lit from below with hot pink flood lights. The gazebo became a place for the newly weds to dine under. Lighting including a customized gobo finished the room and set the mood.

Katie and Kurts wedding was spring inspired from beginning to end. The reception was held at The Founders Inn in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Tall sprays of yellow and complementing blues graced the room. Magnificent yellow Gladiolas, pale blue Delphinium, blue Iris, pale yellow roses, blue Hydrangea, and Spring-time Daffodils topped our 28” glass palace vases containing three Daffodil steams. Shorter palace vases of Delphinium, blue and yellow iris, yellow rose and Daffodils complemented its taller counterparts. All sat upon mirror rounds place on our navy blue brushed satin table linens. Yellow napkins, star votives and silver plate chargers finished off the place settings. Spring was definitely in the air at Katie and Kurt’s wedding.

Mass Mutual Annual Award Banquet

Simple, tropical, elegance is how to describe the arrangements we created for Mass Mutual Financial Group’s Annual Award Banquet. Silvers, whites, and blues were a sophisticated palette for this event. The Westin Town Center Virginia Beach was the perfect backdrop.

cover in our navy blue brushed satin linens and our silver plate chargers dressed each table. Standing tall, our 28” glass palace vases were topped with grand sprays of graceful arching white Calla Lilies accented by white Dendrobium orchids. Feathery white ostrich plumes added drama and interest while a large green monstera leaf was used to add impact. Down inside each palace vase we placed clear marbles and two perfect stems of white Dendrobium orchids. Light boxes placed below each arrangement up lit and helped highlight the details. For the ceiling we used two of our shimmering aqualights to cast a rippling water effect across the ceiling. All these elements came together to create an elegant sophisticated event those of Mass Mutual would never forget.

What a fantasitc couple, from our very first consulation I knew this was going to be a awsome wedding. When Ellen and Shuan said they wanted something different and something that there friends and family would long remember. I knew we had a chance to pull off a very amazing look.

A very special thanks to Michelle, with Weddings by Michelle for taking charge and finding awsome table cloths, chairs and a flawless time line and all of the key elements of this event. Jeremy Kilgore, and Dave Bell with Blue Steel for the coolest lighting effect of any event we have been a part of. None of our flowers would have been as dramatic without them. My favorite Catering Company, Jodi with Sweetwater Cuisine pulled out all the punches with her food and presentation.

We had the pleasure of working with Emer, and Scott and Adina Hayne and Beth at the Hermitage Museum. We had the best event with the best vendors!

Butterflies

I don't think anyone quite understands what the "butterfly" represents. I have been here for 6 years, I don't think anyone has quite known the magnitude of how many butterflies have been distributed from Daevid's. It is in every bride's bouquet, and his signature piece. He sees a butterfly the same way as he views a human being, and as he views a bride. It starts out as a small small life and cocoons. Then it goes through an evolution of months of planning for your wedding. It is everything that represents a beautiful free spirit. It's everything that makes you feel warm and humble at the same time. A butterfly is a symbolism for him, for his brides! It is as each bride evolves in her event, and her life. So for those that haven't understood what the butterfly is...it is nothing more than graceful beauty-evolved! It is Daevid's personal quest to spread butterflies! Now after 6 yrs he finally allowed me to explain...butterflies!

Jules & Brady - The Chrysler Museum

What can I say about Jules and Brady...fun, easy, stunning, elegant, dream like, fairytale, enchanting, exquisite, radiant, dazzling, beautiful, charming, divine, alluring, glamorous, breathtaking and tasteful. There is nothing else I can possibly say about their wedding!! Jules carried a bouquet of vendella and sahara roses, seated in white hydrangea, accented with stephanotis with pearls and crystals. The centerpieces for the reception were our tall palace vases with white and antique green hydrangea, white roses, vendella and sahara roses, with a touch of valvaldi roses. We also hung crystals from the vases and placed petals from the roses inside the vase. it was magical! Thank you to Michelle and Kim with Weddings by Michelle for the trusting us with Juliette and Brady's wedding. Jeremy Kilgore with Blue Steel Lighting, Rodney Charles Disc Jockey and Mia Byrd at the Chrysler Museum. Jennie was one of those brides ,from our first consultation with her and her mom, made me feel very fortunate that I could relieve some of their creative juices for Jennies wedding. Jennie is one of those brides that I will long remember. Not only for her natural grace and beauty, but as one of those ladies that continues to enrich peoples lives. Jennie is a schoolteacher in VA Beach who is dedicated and passionate about her job. This made my job even harder, to reward her with exactly what she wanted and more. Her bouquet was stargazer lilies, light pink mona lisa roses, electric hot pink roses, accented with white mini calla lilies and seated in white hydrangea. Adorned with our signature "Butterfly". Jennie and her wedding are perfect examples of butterflies. Her reception at the Cavalier Beach Club was grand and flawless! Jennie and her mom planned for every detail. Her arrangements were in our 28" palace vases, and shorter palace vases sitting on our light boxes. Graced with all of her wedding flowers. Stargazer lilies light pink mona lisa roses, electric hot pink roses, accented with white mini calla lilies seated in white hydrangea, pink alstroemeria and pink glads. The illusion of having tall and short vases in the room, was perfect. Thanks to Jennie and Shawn for allowing us the opportunity to assist them in one of Hampton Roads most beautiful weddings, this year. A special thanks to Susan and John for allowing us to handle the flowers of their daughter's wedding. A family we will certainly not forget! Thank you to Sam Hughes for sharing his art with us.

Dawn & Keith - First Presbyterian Church & Chrysler Museum

Dawn and Keith are a great couple. She carried one of our signature bouquets with our signature colors. We used spicy orange, black magic, and hot pink roses along with royal purple stock, apricot mini calla lilies, and bright green cymbidium orchids. We also added a touch of stephanotis with crystals and beads. A subtle touch of phalenopis orchids, all seated in blue hydrangea. Dawn's attendants carried bouquets of green cymbidium orchids, apricot mini calla lilies and purple stock, seated in blue hydrangea. Beautiful! The reception was held at The Chrysler Museum. Our glass cylinder vases held blue hydrangea in the base, silver wire in the center and a few purple orchids to accent the center of the vase as well. The top was graced with her wedding flowers and colors. When contemporary meets nature. Sometimes our best medium is not only inspired by nature, but can be inspired by something as simple as copper wire. Thanks for the opportunity to let us break the norm and making something unusual, dramatic. A special thank you to Kim with RSVP for coordinating, Sam Hughes for his breathtaking photos and Jeremy Kilgore for incredible lighting. Our blessings to Dawn and Keith!

Cassandra & Arthur - The Ferguson Center for the Arts

If you haven't visited The Ferguson yet you should make the trip! The architecture is breathtaking successfully combining classic archways and modern decor. Cassandra and Arthur choose a wonderful venue for me and Pearl (Unique Yours by Pearl) their wedding coordinator to work with. Their outside ceremony, held in the courtyard, was banked with soft screens to block the view from outside the courtyard then I softened the screens more and the perimeter of the courtyard with ferns, ficus trees, and palms. The effect gave the feel of a private garden.
Cassandra carried a simple gold tussy mussy filled with ranunculus with magenta centers and some greenery.
For the reception I separated the cocktail and dinner areas with more screens, ficus trees, ferns and palms. I used a large palace vase filled to the brim with black bacarro roses as the center piece for the card table. The simplicity of it was impressive. The reception centerpieces were small glass vases filled with the same black bacarro roses and tied off with gold ribbon. I accented the gold by using our gold plate chargers and our gold framed table numbers. The arrangements were simple but made a big impact. I have to point out that the reception room was beautifully lite by Jeremy of Blue Steel Lighting. I also have to mention the fabulous job of Christoper Newport Catering and the superb job that Erica Zenzer event manager at the Ferguson did. All these vendors working together so well made everything go smoothly without a hitch and I know that Cassandra and Arthur loved it.

This wedding was very special to me and my staff. We have worked with Kimberley's family and their wedding planning business R.S.V.P. for years. The are friends but part of our tight knit work family. Kimberley looked breathtaking! I made a bouquet of merlot colored peony's, black magic roses, blue berries, and angel wing red begonia foliage, with subtle touches of peppermint for Kimberley to carry. Kimberley's sister Kristin carried a bouquet of green hydrangea, flemenica roses (yellow with merlot edges), seeded eucalyptus, hypericum, and paprika and orange colored lily's,
For the ceremony I used 10 silver candelabras topped with green hydrangea amaranthus and white roses. I adorned the landings of the impressive museum staircase with the candelabras and placed small lighted votive candles on each step. The effect against the stone walls and steps is soft and classic. As a surprise for Kimberley we lined the aisle with pink pomander balls hung by a soft blue ribbon. Kimberley was very surprised, pleased and touched.
The reception took on a more modern flair. I used tall glass cylinders filled with varied arrangements of green hydrangea, green fuji mums, white dendrobium, hypericum, spicy orange roses, paprika colored lily's, orange lily's, purple stock and Amaranthus. The tall glass cylinders were placed on on lighted platform and they glowed from underneath. We surrounded the tall cylinder with 4 smaller cylinders and filled them with a variety of the same flowers. All of this placed atop a deep rich chocolate colored satin tablecloth. Kimberley and Chris' families really loved the effect. I have many friends among the other wedding vendors that I have worked with throughout the years many of whom have become like family. This is definitely the case with Kimberley. It was more than a pleasure to work with Kimberley and Chris (and Kim's mom Diane) planning this event. It was perfect!

Erika & Chris Fort Stroy Beach & The Lessner Inn

What a beautiful day for a Saturday Beach Wedding. I marked the ceremony location with free standing Shepherd hooks. The hooks held a pomander balls in their wedding flowers, I also accented the hooks with bamboo and streamers in orange and sage, The streamers really took flight in the beach breee.
Erika carried a nosegay bouquet with royal purple stock, magenta ink gerbera daisys, seed eucalyptus, sea glass, dusty miller, and rosesin spicy orange and the femica rose that is yellow with magenta/spicy orange edge, I added subtle accent of paprika colored asiatic lily's and the wrapped all the stems in white ivory.
Erika's attendants carried bouquets of purple stock, seeded eucalyptus, sea grass, deep orange lily's , black bacarro roses, spicy roses, dusty miller, and croaton leaves all wrapped in burnt orange fabric.
I love working with Amy and her staff at The Lessner Inn. It looks so beautiful when we have those bright blue sky days! I used 8 of our tall glass cylinders filled with paparis, birds of paradise and combinations of the wedding flowers used. I then anchored the back and front of the room with these 8 vases. 12 other tables were decorated with a large conk shell filled with paparis, burnt orange lily's, black bacarro roses, flemenco rose and seeded eucalyptus
Erika and Chris had a very pretty wedding full of love, a perfect send off for a great life full of love.

Laura & Brian - The Founder's Inn

What a beautiful day for Laura and Brian. I love Fall weddings! The Founder's Inn looks really great in the Fall! For their flowers I used rich greens, oranges and pinks. Laura held a bouquet of green hydrangea, green cymbidium orchids and mango mini calla lily's, accented with beads and crystals. Laura's attendants carried bouquets of green hydrangea, apricot mini calla lily's, hot pink princess roses, paprika colored asiatic lily's, bi-colored yellow and pink flemenica roses, accented with purple stock. For the reception in the Founder's ballroom I used three different sizes of my Eiffel tower vases. Filled with assortments of paprika colored lily's, green hydrangea, flemenica roses, hot princess rose and purple stock. We contrasted the Eiffel Tower vases square cubes filled with green hydrangea and matching petals to all the wedding flowers.
I want to thank Laura and Brian for letting me be a part of this important part in their lives. I think they enjoyed their day as much as I enjoyed working with them!

This wedding was breathtaking! A beautiful couple, classic Norfolk venues and great vendors to work with, (Cuisine & Company and the very creative David Schwartz Photography, Blue Steel Pro Lighting and Weddings By Michelle !) Everything was clean, classic and black and white. Rebecca carried a bouquet of all white flowers with black centers, accented with fabric that matched her dress. Her darling flower girls carried small pomanders of white hydrangea and white roses with a black ribbon sash.
The reception held at The Chrysler Museum was impressive. The cocktail hour was held in the art glass area of The Chrysler and the white and black theme was a beautiful contrast with the glass. I loved the 3 foot by 6 foot tray of white carnations that I made into a display for the guest seating cards. The reception tables were stunning! Beautiful black satin table cloths covered the large square tables with a beautiful black and white floral table runner to accent the table. For the table centerpieces I used 4 varied square vases filled with white hydrangea, white anenomies and white roses. To accent the perimeter of the room we used tall palace vases filled with white Asiatic lily's with black accents. Jermomy Kilgore I have to say rocked that day with his lighting and the perfect accent for every event. I am really proud of my work for Rebecca & Jay, I hope that they loved it as much as I did!

Frank & Jean's 50th Anniversary Party

It is hard for me to describe how much I enjoyed working with this couple to design this very special event. I love working with bridal couples and making their wedding day special, but sharing in the 50th anniversary celebration of this very special couple was inspirational. The gathering of their children, grandchildren, family members and special friends was held at their lovely home in Hampton on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. I loved working in this setting! The theme was vibrant Fall colors and flowers. I used our large Victorian Gazebo as a focal point for the reception. The gazebo and night sky were lite with small white lights, latterns and votives. For the centerpieces I filled pumpkins with spicy paprika, orange and tangerine colored roses, all accented with dusty miller and croton leaves. Jodi, (the fabulous caterer from Sweetwater Cuisine) decorated the food and beverage tables with more of the pumpkins and Fall flowers.
Inside their home I created a hugh centerpiece runner of pumpkins, roses, croton leaves, orange leaves, mums and candles for their dinning room table. I covered a large 15 foot ledge in the main indoor seating area with different sized pumpkins, gourds, Fall flowers, leaves and candles.
I dressed the entrance way with a large arrangment of Fall flowers accented with pumpkins and gourds and I hung large wreaths of Fall flowers at the entrance and on the large fireplace mantle. The clean lines of the decor of the home were perfectly accented with the Fall colors. We took lots of photos of this event, because it is definately one I felt very inspired by and don't want to forget. I want to thank Frank, Jean and their family for the opportunity to work with them and I hope to work with them for their 75th!

Shenelle & Hiraman - Granby Street Theatre

Shenelle & Hiraman picked a great location! The restorations of The Granby Street Theatre are impressive in their beauty and historical accuracy. I love when I get to design in different locations!
Shenelle carried a nosegay style bouquet full of light pink roses, cream and pink bicolored "dosiviata" roses, pink lily's and I accented it with cream colored stock and mini white calla lily's. Her attendants carried simple bouquets of hot princess roses, dosiviata roses and pink lily's. I wrapped the stems in latte colored ribbon. I kept all the corsages and boutonnieres simple and classic.
This was a simple, classic, low stress, fun wedding!! This is the kind of wedding that makes my job easy! Many blessings to Shenelle and Hiraman.

Jennifer & Gabriel St. Paul's Catholic Church & Vista Point NOB

I loved working with Jennifer, Gabriel and their families. This was a very sweet wedding. I worked with a very vibrant color scheme for their floral design.
Jennifer carried a bouquet of pink lily's, deep merlot colored "black baccarro" roses, cream color "eskimo" roses, fragrant creamy peach colored "osian" roses and accented with pink and white tulips. Jennifer's attendants carried bouquets of soft orange colored "queen's day" roses, black baccarro roses, hot princess roses and lime green bluepurium. I wrapped the stems in chocolate brown and pink fabric that matched their dresses.
For the reception at Vista Point I used our palace vases filled with pink tinted water and then filled the vases with the same colors of roses and lily's that they carried during the wedding. I also added "glads" to grace the top of the vases. To compliment the tall palace vases I also used glass cubes filled with pink water and similar flowers to add more dimension to the centerpieces.
I can't say enough about how easy the staff from Vista Point was to work with. What a pleasure!
I know that Jennifer & Gabriel had a special day my absolute best wishes for their journey!

Jennifer and Stuart chose the beautiful Fort Meyers Bay Breeze as a backdrop for their special day and I was honored to design the wedding flowers to accent their venue. Once again, I was inspired by the freshness and texture of the outdoors; Afterall, my slogan is "Inspired by Nature, Designed with a Passion!"
We chose for Jennifer's bouquet cool pinks of hydrangea and mini callas, and warm greens of lily grass. Simple and Sophisticated.
For this close knit reception we used our Eiffel towers with stargazer lily's and lily grass along with our hurricane globes dressed with brown sugar (to give the effect of sand) surrounding the globe base.
I get excited about the big, ballroom, 500 guests weddings, but the small intimate gatherings celebrating a loving union are touching and inspiring on a different level.

Jackie and Marty chose one of my favorite wedding spots! It doesn't get much better than the staff and the bay views of The Lessner Inn. It is the perfect spot for couples who want a special day but also want to embrace the casualness of our beaches.
The rich saturated blues, hot pinks and oranges of their color scheme was a perfect match for The Lessner Inn setting. Jackie carried a nosegay of dark blue hydrangea, light blue delphinium, hot princess & spicy orange roses, accented with stephanotis with blue crystal centers. Jackie's bouquet was wrapped with a sash of the fabric from her wedding dress. The ceremony alter was accented with 2 of our large glass palace vases filled with seashells at their base, and with the blue, hot pink and spicy orange flowers to accent Jackie's bouquet.
At the reception we blended the centerpieces with the view from The Lessner Inn. We used conk shells filled with their wedding flowers, glass hurricane vases filled with shells and wedding flowers, and pillar candles.
I am inspired by the warm colors of sunset beach weddings. It makes my job easy!

Torrey's Mid-Summer Cabaret with a Twist!

What a super cool party!!! This party held outside on the beach and the grounds of a lovely home in the north end of the Virginia Beach oceanfront combined the themes of Carneval and Mardi Gras and was alive, energetic and bordered slightly on risque.
At the entrance of the event we draped loads of shimmery soft fabric over our arches accented with the multiple colors of Mardi Gras beads and feather beads. Soft lights, glowing flames, gentle fog and the beautiful beach sky added subtle mystery to the night.
The cuisine was southern, rich and indulgent and the staff were all beautifully costumed to add to the entertainment. Guests wore sequined masks and a few VIP's were chosen to have custom body painting and Carnival costumes.
The preparation for this event was time consuming, but the outcome was well worth it. Don't get me wrong...I love the romance of wedding design, but stepping out of the box to design this event was amazingly fun!

Tara & Rob

I was so very proud of this wedding, because when Tara peeked in and saw the dreamlike scene we created it filled her with happiness. Tara wrote to me after the wedding that "...when I walked into the ballroom I saw the most beautiful centerpieces I've ever laid my eyes on. What a fantastic surprise!"..."The bouquets were also beautiful, as well as every other flower in the wedding. You have so much talent and heart!" This is a business for me, a business that I love, but the gratitude of Tara and Rob was so heartfelt I was not only proud, but reassured that this is my calling.
Tara and Rob held their ceremony at the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church and their reception at the impressive Renaissance Hotel Ballroom in Portsmouth. Their color choices of blush pinks, drenched pinks and cream set off not only their ceremony, but the Elizabeth River blue and sunset filtered through the panoramic windows of the Renaissance.
At their reception I loved not only challenge of creatively designing the traditional candelabras with a modern touch, but designing the modern wedding couple's place settings. The wedding couple's sweet heart table was dressed with our silver plate chargers accented with orchids and lily grass. Their table "numbers" were also very sweet. Each table was named for a different year in the lives of Tara & Rob and held a silver framed photo of each of them from that year in their lives,
I was inspired by Tara and Rob and surprised them with little unexpected touches. It was so touching that with all the business and emotion a wedding couple encounters that they noticed the little things.
Tara wrote "...PS, I loved the silver butterfly you tucked into my bouquet! What a lovely touch!"

What a warm summer dream of a wedding! Laura and Christopher successfully melded the venues of the sophisticated, modern decor of St. Mark's Catholic Church with the beach scene of Fort Story. Their color scheme of greens, lavenders and deep blues was a great pleasure to work with.
At St. Mark's Laura carried a bouquet of white, green and deep blue hydrangea with lavender lissanthus and accents of stephanotis. Her bouquet was wrapped in a traditional white fabric. Laura's attendants carried simple, sophisticated nosegays of deep purple and blue hydrangea accented with lavender lissanthus and wrapped in lilac.
At Laura and Christopher's beach reception we adorned their tables with 3 levels of glass cylinders filled with blue hydrangea and subtle touches of green. We submerged the flowers and floated candles on top. The effect was glowingly beautiful.
I often think I have the best job in the world. I get to be creative and share special moments! It doesn't get better! My thanks to Laura and Christopher for allowing me to share in their special day.

Azalea & Darrin

For me the most special aspect of Azalea and Darrin's wedding is that I have known their families for years. The TownePoint Club was the scene for the ceremony & reception and I love the TownePoint Club, especially at sunset!
I was so very proud to use our newest Victorian gazebo for their ceremony, adorned with ferns, flowers and crystals. Azalea carried a beautiful bouquet of butter colored stock, antique cream peach Sahari roses and the light peach Osina Rose. Stephanotis with beads and crystal accented her bouquet. Azalea's attendants carried nosegays of apricot and peach roses with mango mini callas. The sunset on the harbor that shines through the windows of the TownePoint Club made the flower colors glow.
For the reception centerpieces we used our heavy silver candelabras accented with spicy orange, peach and Vendella roses, accented with purple stock. The contrast with crisp white linens. silver ladder back chairs and our silver plate chargers was stylish and breathtaking.
I love my job and when I get to design for family and friends it is more than special. I wish only the greatest of blessings for Azalea, Darrin and their family.

Blair & Zachary

Wow! What great fun! There was so much I loved about working with Blair and Zachary and helping to design this event that will be so memorable for them AND ME! We successfully mingled the classic downtown venues of Freemason Baptist Church and Harrison Opera House with a fun lighthearted whimsy.
At Freemason Baptist we accented the rich mahogony woods of the alter and pews with contrasting pink and green arrangements. I especially loved the pew marker poms made from green kermit mums accented with hot pink pins and ribbon. Blair carried a bouquet of hot princess roses, hot pink mini callas, , green hypericum looped with lily grass and accented with crystals. A special added touch to her bouquet was the thin, yet strong ribbon that tied Zachary's wedding ring to Blair's bouquet. The removal for the ring ceremony was touching, special and different.
The reception held at the Harrison was not only special, but original! The modern pink and brown complemented the beautiful lines of the Harrison. For the centerpieces we combined 3 cylinder vases with different variations of green fuji mums, green cymbidium orchids, hot pink roses, green hydranges and pink callas.
The most creative and original idea at Blair and Zachary's wedding was their choice for party favors. We created a "Candy Bar" filled with varied candy that matched their color scheme. Guests used mini silver scoops to fill silver, engraved tins with their favorite candies. The effect was beautiful and fun and their guests loved it!
Some weddings really make and impact on me and Blair and Zachary's will stand out as one of my favorites!

Katie and Jerod are a fabulous couple and I loved their choices of venues and the soft sophistication of their color scheme. The ceremony was held at the classic First Presbyterian Church in the Ghent section of Norfolk and for the alter pieces we used our large Lenox vases filled with classic white and cream roses, blue hydrangea, blue delphinium and lily's. Katie carried a nosegay of green hydrangea, white Eskimo roses, cream colored vendella roses, white mini calla lily's, subtle hits of Queen Anne's lace and stephanotis adorned with beads and crystals in the center. The bouquets for Katie's attendants flowed with the rich color scheme of the day. They carried nosegays of yellow mini callas, jade roses and blue delphinium all seated inside blue hydrangeas

The reception held at The Chrysler Museum was visually breathtaking. The color scheme of rich blues and greens was set of beautifully with the setting sun streaming into the windows of The Chrysler. The linens we chose were our soft, yet color saturated chiffon aqua blue and kermit green table cloths. For the table centerpieces we used our large silver candelabras and our 36" cubes, both filled with blue hydrangea, white and cream roses, yellow mini callas and blue delphinium. We accented the blue/green linens of the cocktail tables with a collection of sea glass and star votive candles in a star burst pattern to give a romantic, interesting and inviting look.

I loved assisting with the design for Katie and Jerod's wedding, and working with the staff of the Chrysler and Cuisine and Company Catering is always easy and well organized.

Giselle & Larry @ The Contemporary Museum of Art

Giselle and Larry were married at the impressive Contemporary Museum of Art in Virginia Beach. Giselle carried a bouquet of white tulips, green Kermit mums, beautiful spicy orange roses, osina roses and we "punched" Giselle's bouquet with accents of hot pink. Giselle also asked us to use apricot mini callas, since they are one of her favorite flowers. Her attendants carried nosegay style bouquets with black baccarro roses, a lovely light peach rose and green kermits. Again, we accented the attendant bouquets with the same great hot pink used in Giselle's bouquet.
Their ceremony was held in the awesome glass walled room at the museum and they were married under our new Victorian inspired, white, wrought iron gazebo.
For the reception flowers we used both our palace vases lined with apples and oranges, and our glass cube vases. The reception flower color scheme mirrored the ceremony flowers. The elegance of the flowers mixed with the modern sophistication of the museum gave everything a romantic feel.
We had a great time working with Larry and Giselle I thank them for allowing them to assist with their special day.

Kristy & Kermit @ Nauticus Museum and Half Moon Terminal

Kristy and Kermit's wedding was incredible! Their ceremony was held in the Nauticus Museum in downtown Norfolk. Kristy carried a beautiful bouquet of cream and peach, the we accented with a light yellow rose with a pink edge. Kristy's attendants carried royal purple stock, spicy orange roses and black baccarro roses. All accented with soft yellow roses.
The most impressive part of Kristy and Kermit's wedding was their amazing choice of a reception site. They chose the brand new Half Moon cruise ship terminal next to Nauticus. This was the first wedding held at this site, so not only was the day history making in the lives of Kristy and Kermit, it was history for the City of Norfolk. It was beautiful, and boy what a view!!! Their caterer was the fabulous Sweetwater Cuisine. Jodi and Kelly of Sweetwater were once again ready for us and made our job easy! We were able to walk in and go right to work. Jodi and Kelly's gold overlays coupled with a cream colored underlay made a picture perfect table. We placed three cylinder vases in varying sizes on each table to make one centerpiece. Each vase had a different arrangement in different stages, seeming to grow from inside the base of the vase. We accented with star votive candles and the effect was stunning. It was so easy to set up due to access and the prompt attention of "Sweetwater". I have to admit I did grab a taste of the fabulous food. I will be the first to say that I am a picky eater, but these ladies "rock southern cuisine!"
Kristy & Kermit are a beautiful couple and I am happy to have had the opportunity to assist them in making their wedding beautiful.

Kristine & Nick @ The Sheraton Oceanfront

Kristine and Nick's wedding was beautiful. Kristine came to us as a referral from Weddings by Michelle. Kristine had chosen for her attendants to wear a beautiful and sassy shade of pink and she had a few flowers that she really wanted to utilize, stargazer Lily's and tulips. Kristine's bouquet held blue royal iris, yellow tulips, and stargazer Lily's all accented with stephanotis with crystal centers. Her attendants carried simple blush bride hydrangea a light pink and white blossom.
Nick and Kristine were married at the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel overlooking the beach. When we started assisting Kristine she had asked for a simple arch to be married underneath. As the months went along I found a beautiful gazebo at a trade show and I knew it would be perfect not only for Kristine and Nick, but for many of our clients. This gazebo (standing 10 feet at its peak) I knew would be a great addition to our inventory. Now, along with our wide selection of arches we have two very ornate, beautiful, Victorian inspired gazebos. With Michelle's advice and help we surprised Kristine and Nick with the Gazebo instead of a simple 7 foot arch with flowers.
For the reception we utilized our tall palace vases and filled them with gladiolas, blue Iris, stargazer Lily's, yellow tulips, cream stock, blue hydrangea and punched them with a hot, electric pink rose. Around the base we used sea glass and our beautiful sky blue table linen. Accented with perimeter lighting by "Blue Steel Lighting" the mood of the room was perfect. Sara & Mike @ 1st Presbyterian Norfolk and Harrison Opera House

Sara & Mike's wedding beautifully combined the traditional with modern touches that put their personal "stamp" on their day. The ceremony was fun & easy, with a rich and vibrant color scheme and held in classic Norfolk venues. The bride's bouquet was a nosegay style bouquet filled with white freesia, vendella roses (Sara's favorite), white lilys and stephanotis, all seated in white hydrangea. The bridesmaids carried similar bouquets with stargazer lilys, laguna roses and black baccara roses (a dark red elegant rose with a velvet look).
Sara & Mike's reception was held at the Harrison Opera House where we used our glass palace vases filled with green apples and a flower arrangement that included white and pink gladiolas, white lilys, pink and white alstromeria, laguana roses and black baccara roses. All the arrangements were accented with subtle touches of white hydrangea. The vases complimented the modern look of the Opera House and the geometric pattern of the burgundy and pink satin table cloths. Working with Isha, of Isha Foss Events (Sara & Mike's wedding coordinator) is always a great pleasure. She always makes our job easy and is definately on of our preferred vendors. Sara and Mike had a beautiful start for the next phase of life. A life we hope is full of abundant blessings for them.

Holly & David @ Pagoda Park

WOW, what can I say? Holly and David's reception was so awesome! Though their wedding ceremony was private and held in Jamaica, they chose to have their reception at home here in Norfolk at Pagoda Park. Let me state for anyone who considers themselves a naturalist and loves all aspects of nature, The Pagoda is one of Norfolk's most incredibly beautiful and serene places. I have visited and have designed weddings in many states and private gardens, as well as the beautiful Botanical Garden here in Norfolk. The Pagoda is my favorite for so many reasons! When Holly came to us the location told me everything I needed to know. Holly wanted to see blues, purples, lavender and greens. With this knowledge my task was to execute a look perfect for a wedding, contemporary for the location and memorable for Holly & David.
Starting with their place cards...we took our base poles of Aspen, yes real Aspen, and stretched them to make a hanging display of guest cards using ribbon in blue and lavender. The supporting pots for the Aspen held purple larkspur, purple and blue hydrangea and blue iris. The centerpieces were in simple glass cubes sitting atop tables draped in blue linen. The cubes were billowing with blue and purple hydrangea. We lined the inside of the vases with lilac in lavender and the rest of the arrangement was a combination of blue and purple iris, purple lissanthus, purple tulips, lavender roses, deep purple mini calla lily's and beautiful blue scabasia. As a final accent we added vanda orchids.
The look was awesome! My fondest memory of the day will be Holly and David's entrance. They entered through one of the Asian passageways, crossed over a small bridge as their guests watched from across the pond. When they entered onto the larger wooden bridge right in front of the Pagoda they began their first dance. Now, let me tell you, I love my business I get to witness many special moments, but to witness that moment was worth more than I can explain. One that will not soon be forgotten. I love all things and elements in Nature, but the love that was so obvious that day between David and Holly makes my job so very rewarding. It was indeed my pleasure to have been a small part of a great wedding!

Kimberley & David @ Downtown Marriott

We were all very excited about this wedding. Kimberley and David wanted to turn the Marriott ballroom into a dreamlike fantasy for their ceremony. We used our largest gazebo as a focal point in the center of the room and covered it in ivy and purple and blue hydrangea. We covered the floor so that the entire room was cream and white as a perfect backdrop to make the gazebo and hydrangea pop. The ceremony was expertly lit by Jeremy Kilgore (Blue Steel Productions, through Weddings by Michelle) silver trees and palace vases filled with hydrangea accented the room.

In the reception ballroom we also used purple & blue hydrangeas in our silver palace vases and each guest's place setting was accented with a small silver cup of hydrangea.

Sarah & Kris' wedding was so very beautiful. The location for both the ceremony and reception was the Cavalier Yacht and Country Club. Simplicity was the look that Sarah and Kris had requested. We fulfilled her desires with her lavender and lilac bouquet, and her attendants with purple and white tulip and green hydrangea.
The centerpieces and the ceremony were designed with a beach theme. Seashells graced the edge of the isle with accents of green kermit mums. The tables held glass bowls with shells in the base and around the outside. Touches of green kermit mums and green hydrangea graced the outside and floated inside each vase with a candle garnishing the entire look. It was a fun and great look. Weddings by Michelle and her staff were an absolute delight to work with. Sarah and Kris had a beautiful wedding and are two beautiful souls with a great future ahead of them.

Kim and Mike's wedding at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club was a treat for me. Kim came with her vision of bright and warm colors. We assisted her with paprika colored lilys, spicy orange roses, green button mums, "Virginia" creamy white roses, punched with a fiery orange gerber daisy. Her attendants held the same color scheme of flowers and we added mango into their bouquets.

What a great couple! Heather & Warren's wedding was at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Heather carried a beautiful bouquet of white hydrangea, purple roses, lavender freesia and to "punch" it we used veronica and stephanotis.
Their reception was catered by "Sweetwater Cuisine", Jodi and Kelly always have the "best cuisine!" and are always prompt on their set up. We had such fun with Heather and Warren's wedding. Tulips in lavender graced each table, with our lavender table cloths. It was absolutely a delightful experience. I am glad to have had the opportunity to be a part of this day and a part of their beautiful beginning. Two great souls with a great future.

Dana & Tony @ Towne Point Club

My consultation with Dana & Tony was so easy. Dana and Tony knew exactly what they wanted - "simple & clean". The color scheme was black, white & silver. With the assistance of Diane Garrison and her daughter at RSVP (see vendor list) Dana and Tony's vision was achieved.

Their wedding ceremony and reception were held at The Towne Point Club in Norfolk. The ceremony used black chairs and we placed a single white rose on each chair. The white roses on the black chairs had a strong visual impact. For the reception, each table was covered to the floor with black linen and accented with silver chairs from Taylor Rental (Anna Bell). We dressed the tables with our silver plate chargers and our silver 5 arm candelabras. White roses, orchids, tulips, rananculus, and white lilys adorned the candelabras. It was beautiful, simple and very elegant.

From my first consultation with Jennifer I knew that this would be of of our "Fun & Funky" wedding themes.
Jennifer and Manuel's wedding ceremony was held at Sacred Heart Church in Norfolk. The church is a powerful location with it's beautiful stained glass and marble. Jennifer's bouquet was the perfect accent of apricot and mango mini calla lilys, green cymbidium orchids and green button mums. Her attendants carried apricot mini calla lilys, green hypericum and a "punch" of hot pink lilys.
The reception was held at The Founder's Inn Swan Terrace Restaurant (Sarah Seacrest). Her tables were graced in a beautiful Asian inspired olive green cloth from Distinctive Event Rentals. We placed containers in the center of the tables, one long tray with manzanita a branch on each end with no flowers except green cymbidiums and white gardenias. The concept was one Jennifer envisioned, with moss to blanket the tray, designed with the Ikabon look. A contemporary, architectural look I so desire. Did I mention the artichokes? Yes, artichokes to grace the long tray and two other trays one with a single floating gardenia and the other with manzanita and an artichoke. Our last detail was a simple green orchid placed on the napkins at each place setting. To finish we used our elevated standing votive candles.

Wedding @ Hampton University and James River Country Club

What a beautiful bride Sabah was! Sabah came to us at the beginning of February with a few, yet very important to her, ideas. She loved white hydrangeas and white calla lilys and those are the flowers that we used as a base to create her beautiful bouquets and center pieces for her reception at the James River Country Club. At the country club each table was designed with a table scape of 4 to 5 individual vases. Each vase we created was a small window of botanicals. One vase had white hydrangeas in the base with rananuculus growing from the base of the container up and out of the rim. The concept was to have a terrarium like effect to it. It was an immense delight to assist in making this wedding lovely.

The weekend could not have been more beautiful. Lauren came to us Last September with a vision of White! From the first consultation she was clear and definite on the look and feel of her wedding ceremony and reception. My job was to create it! With White rose, white zantedeschai (mini calla lily's) variety was called "white dream, so appropriate for a wedding, white dubbel (freeshia) Versailles a true white, with subtle accents of belladonna, a light blue delphinium to only accent her bouquet. Everything else was to be white.
Lauren and Kevin had picked one of my favorite Baptist Churches in the Area Central Baptist to have their ceremony. We had picked a simple arch with flowers to grace the top with the use of her wedding flowers. We later removed the flowers from the top and moved it to the reception site. The isle was ladened with white rose petals and pew cups of white hydrangea, and white dendrobium orchids. The church was just the accent for the Day. Lauren was such a beautiful bride her gown, her personality as well as her Southern Grace it was heart warming and made me so grateful for the gift I was given by God. Not only the ability to help make joy but to experience it. Lauren and her Mother Patricia we an absolute delight to assist.
Lauren and Kevin's reception was awesome. With our 38" tall glass palace vases filled to the rim with water, we place centerpieces incorporating her flowers all in white but for the ultimate punch we added white peony's, white dendrobiums, other tables had our new vangough vases with white mini calla lily's, white hydrangea and orchids growing in the vases, accented with our star votive and silver plate chargers. Kevin and Lauren's reception had it all... simplicity, elegance, grace, distinction and a Beautiful Couple with a Fantastic future ahead of them. I am to saddened that their event is over. My sincere appreciation to Lauren, Kevin and Patricia for the confidence and trust they had in my studio. May God always bless those with a heart that yield such wonderful adults like Lauren and Kevin. My compliments to their parents for raising two polite and gracious individuals. I hope I do the same with my son, they are true inspiration to those of us parents.

Paige and David

June 2, 2007 will be one to remember because of Paige and David's wedding. We first met Paige the beginning of February. In our first consultation we spent almost 3 hours discussing a variety of looks, but with each one we expanded and made it so distinct. Paige desired a romantic and yet fun funky look for her decor. With the use of Peony's, pink hydrangea, shades of deep Merlot and light pink while carefully paying attention to the over all look at both the ceremony and the reception. Paige carried a simple nosegay style bouquet of Merlot peony's, deep Merlot roses, light pink roses (all an imported rose from South America) and accented with seeded eucalyptus, and antique green hydrangea. Her attendants carried simple nosegay form bouquets of light peach, shocking orange, Merlot roses and punched with hot pink roses with a subtle touch of pink sweet peas for a soft but unique look.
Her reception was so increadable with a collection of her family's silver gracing the tables in pieces of 3 to 5 per table. We used her wedding flowers to adorn each piece. While she wanted to see more than just silver we combined tall Glass cylinders once more with flowers gracing the inside of the vase and growing out, other tables had collections of hurricanes, candles and more of her silver to accent. Lastly to anchor the room we Incorporated our 6' tall glass vases that towered the 4 back tables in each corner with her wedding flowers. If you want the look to excite them and yet keep it intimate-- tower flowers from the outside in. Her pictures are soon to be added to our website. I had SO Much fun creating this look. Paige Thank You for trusting in my vision and sharing yours to make this one of my most favorite looks for the year and defiantly one I am so proud to assist with. What an incredible couple, from the start we had such a pleasure working with Stephanie who had some background in floral prior to us meeting. It was so refreshing to have her bring to the consultation something unusual but hers at the same time. With Lily of the valley being a flower that she favored as well as tulips and hydrangea we incorporated purple hydrangea, and purple tulips growing in and out of glass vases. Laurent and Stephanie's wedding was in Williamsburg with a beautiful ceremony at Saint Stephen's and the Reception at Legacy Hall (new facility) with "Our Preferred Caterer" Sweet Water Cuisine "True Southern Cuisine" . What a beautiful couple and what a great experience I had with them. Stephanie has such a presence from time she entered the studio until she walked down the to join Joseph at the Altar at the Lesner Inn. Stephanie had asked that help create a romantic but fun approach to her wedding and reception but make sure to have the personal flowers Elegant and funky. We achieved this with an increadiable rose with a large petal count and a super large head in her bouquet all in soft pinks with subtle touches of pink mini calla lilys. While here attendants carried green hydrangea, the same pink roses, and pink peony's. (May is the season locally for them) Inside at the Lesner Inn we had incorporated glass cubes with green hydrangea and all of her flowers from her bouquets but had punched with hot pink roses, and another rose imported with an even larger and high petal count bi-colored light pink on hot pink rose and the most beautiful bi-colored white and pink lilys from South America. It was a sincere pleasure to this great opportunityto be apart of another beautful cermony of Love.

We started our Holiday Weekend out with Juanita Dillard and her wonderful Husband. With the Assistance of Isha Foss Events her event was beautiful. Juanita had chosen our beautiful silver candle sticks for her reception. Her color choice for flowers were Hot pink, royal purple and accents of lavender. While Juanita wanted a simple bouquet something that was true to her personality. A simple but elegant bouquet so for her she carried two beautiful stems of Phalaenopsis in white.
